Abstract

After the WannaCry attack, it would seem that the hacking group known as the Shadow Brokers (or TheShadowBrokers) is in possession of some extremely potent information. This makes it all the more disconcerting that the group has announced the start of their own subscription service.

The group made this announcement via a blog post.

“In June, TheShadowBrokers is announcing ‘TheShadowBrokers Data Dump of the Month’ service. TheShadowBrokers is launching new monthly subscription model. Is being like wine of month club. Each month peoples can be paying membership fee, then getting members only data dump each month. What members doing with data after is up to members.”

According to the blog post, subscribers could expect their data dump to contain:

  • Exploits for web browsers, routers, and handsets
  • New exploits for Windows 10
  • Network data from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) providers and banks
  • Network data from nuclear programs in Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.

While there has been some question as to whether the Shadow Brokers possess some of the data they claim to (like a new Windows 10 exploit, for starters) it is much better for your business if you were on the side of safe, instead of sorry.

Remember, WannaCry was so effective because so many organizations had neglected to apply the patches that could have eliminated their vulnerability to it. Therefore, it is crucial that you apply patches as they are released to make sure you are as protected as you can be at all times.

NetMGM can help you with that. Not only will we make sure that your business network is as secure as possible, we’ll put measures in place to help mitigate the damage should something make its way in. Give us a call at 888-748-2525 today.
